At the heart of the Orient, Classical China was once upon a time a sanctuary where the fine arts flourished and where ancient wisdom abounded in a land of wealth and natural beauty. Today, much of that culture has been lost in mainland China – and communism is to blame.

Following the toppling of the Qing Dynasty in the early 20^th century, the Kuomintang-led government of the newly founded Republic of China fended off the ongoing attempt of the Chinese Communist Party to wrestle control of the nation.

This struggle spanned across two decades, and it was during the Japanese occupation of parts of mainland China during the Second World War that the Chinese Communist Party eventually found the Kuomintang government vulnerable enough to succeed in their insurrection shortly thereafter.

The island of Taiwan, where the Kuomintang government fled to after the civil war, has existed as a nation in exile ever since the communist regime came to power on the mainland.

In the decades since the communist revolution in mainland China, the Chinese people have become downtrodden by a regime that is systematically dismantling their nation’s cultural heritage in an effort to suppress the memory of a glorious past before communism.

Although the lingering spirit of this bygone era still persists, the living legacy of Classical China has been all but lost on the mainland. And while cultural displays may be promoted by the CCP government at home and abroad, there is no living substance to their form.

Indeed, the religious persecution and democide of Falun Gong practitioners is but one example of the CCP’s intolerance for anyone seeking to breathe genuine life again into Classical Chinese culture and spirituality.

As such, Counterspin Media wish to show our support for the Falun Gong’s Shen Yun Performing Arts tour here in New Zealand in April of this year, with performances hosted in both Auckland and Wellington.

Founded in New York in 2006, Shen Yun Performing Arts are dedicated to the promotion of traditional Chinese culture. According to their website:

Through breathtaking dance and music, Shen Yun’s artists tell of a time when divine beings walked upon the earth, leaving behind a culture that inspired generations. Ancient Chinese wisdom, infused with Buddhist and Taoist spirituality and values, gave birth to everything from medical innovations to opera, dance, architecture, and even martial arts. But after decades of communist rule, much of this divinely inspired culture has been destroyed or forgotten.

 

 

Over the past few years, New Zealanders have witnessed firsthand as Comrade Ardern and her Marxist regime have attempted to radically alter our nation’s values and our very way of life.

As such, the Shen Yun Performing Arts tour is a reminder to us all of everything we stand to lose if we the people fail to curb the communist agenda being foist upon us.

After all, we the people are the cure to the sickness which has taken hold of our society and patriots worldwide must fight back on every frontier – including the resurrection of traditional, wholesome and conservative culture as well as pride in the unique beauty of every nation which communism and globalism seek to destroy.
